Kate's Kustom Designs originates from coach Kate making a dance for her competitive gymnasts. It was their end of the year performance, to the song Diamonds by Rihanna. The girls all wanted matching suits for when they were on stage. Kate had taken this opportunity and said "Okay I'll do it" with very little sewing experience. Kate has an Aunt(Diane), her sister(Marlene makes teddy bears. Kate thought, she could teach me..

 

The struggle was real, Kate had already ordered the fabric the next day. Gathered everything she thought she needed and went with Diane to Marlene's place to start sewing. At least she thought they would start sewing. Nothing was going right, no one really understood how to read the bodysuit pattern, but for some reason Kate did! Placing the pieces she realized this part is easy, now to measure the gymnasts.. shouldn't be too hard, right?

With measurements, fabric, and a pattern. Kate went at it again with Diane and Marlene. Spent hours just trying to get the suit seams to look like those of the suits, Kate had previously purchased. With ZERO luck. Kate wasn't impressed this is WAY harder then she expected.

Then again Auntie Diane to the rescue with someone in the condo building who used to be a tailor, Her name is Bernice. She let them use her machines which allowed them to get professional looking seams, like Kate was hoping for.

So now the 4 of them hard at work with these 11 suits to make by June, Hours of hard work and many new machines bought,, just so those 11 girls could have matching suits on stage!!

It all came to a wrap the suits were made and even matching skirts! to finish off with an amazing performance by the gymnasts.

It was all worth it in the end, and now an amazing company exists because of those 11 girls and 4 lovely ladies.
